Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

The start of the new year is upon us.  Those resolutions we make every new year might be easier to keep if we share them with our kids! The concept of new year resolutions might be hard for preschooler’s but they can get it if we “K.I.S.S.”  our resolutions!  “Keep It Simple Sweetheart”!  Change is hard  for all of us so be easy with yourself!

Keeping any resolutions that mean changes in routine or habit very simple and easy helps you succeed and helps kids understand.  Any weight loss resolution needs to be broken down into specific actions you will take.  Just saying I will lose weight” is way to vague.   Detailing, in simple terms, how, what you’ll do to lose the weight is key.

Jana Kingsford, Australian self help author, and online life coach, also  publishes a blog called Mums Juggling Act. Her blog post on tracking resolutions with sticker charts is exactly what I have in mind.  Whatever the resolution, when you and the kids work together toward a common goal you all have better chances for success.

A blogger at TeachPreschool posed Five New Years Resolutions For Preschool Teachers, a nice list of things to get started on right away!
