Welcome Fall

Welcome Fall

These are our plans for next week’s Welcome Fall theme.  Children can learn that there are two words for this season. We teach them both Fall an autumn.

Science

Welcome Fall

Make a tray with parts of nature found in our neighborhood. Our tray includes leaves, goards, pine cones, chestnuts in their spiked shells and chestnuts out of their shells, oh and a magnifying glass.

Math

Sorting Leaves

Welcome Fall  Welcome Fall

We collect leaves from around our school campus. Then we bring them to circle time and sort them by color. Every child gets a turn or two to glue leaves onto matching construction paper. Fun stuff!

Manipulatives
Welcome Fall

There’s almost always at least a few lacing cards in our classroom. They’re great fine muscle and eye -hand coordination.

Art

Music

First these are the songs we sing.

Gray Squirrel

Gray squirrel, gray squirrel swish your bushy tail.

Gray squirrel, gray squirrel swish your bushy tail.

Wrinkle up your little nose. Hold your nut between your toes.

Gray squirrel, gray squirrel swish your bushy tail.

Apple tree     🎶  I’m a little apple tree, all my apples grow on me. I mustn’t sneeze, I mustn’t cough or all my apples will fall off!                                                                                   Aahh-choo! Aah-choo! (Catch you sneeze in your elbow) 🍎

Product Review – Lakeshore Learning™ CD Player

Product Review – Lakeshore Learning™ CD Player

Product Review – Lakeshore Learning™ CD Player, Cassette Recorder, Radio

Lakeshore Learning CD Player The Lakeshore Learning™ CD Player, Cassette Recorder, Radio has been in use in my preschool classroom for about four weeks and we love it!  The thing is made specifically for classrooms.  It’s sturdy, portable, and has a great sound.  Those are basic features that I would expect in any CD player I purchase.  The features that finalized my decision was the auxiliary port that allows our mp3 devices to be plugged in(cable sold separately).   At $189.00 Lakeshore’s CD player is more than twice the cost of our $80.00 old machine.   This is a classic example of getting what you pay for.  Back in April 2013 I purchased a CD Player for the classroom that featured an iPod Dock.  It seemed to have the capabilities we wanted – CD Player, cassette recorder, radio, and dock for our iPod.  Well…within a month the dock was so loose we had to prop the iPod into the dock.  Now we plug both the iPod and the iPad into the Lakeshore CD player.  Our old CD player became unusable when the volume bottom broke right off!  That brings us to today.  We had so many little grips with that old CD player that we haven’t uttered in weeks!  Thank you Lakeshore Learning.
