What Parents Need To Know About Day Care Licensing –

Parents are encouraged to use this information as a resource in their search for quality child care. Every state requires child care providers (under certain circumstances) to obtain and maintain a license.  Licensure includes annual inspections by the local health department, fire code inspection, as well as inspection by the licensor itself. Licensed child care centers  are also subject to impromptu inspection at any time during the licensing cycle. While licensing is rigorous, it is still only the minimum standard of care. Accreditation brings the standard to the next level.

Child Care Centers display their license proudly so be sure to look for it.

If you don’t see it ask for it. The license number can be  used to look up a centers’ enforcement history. Start here http://nrckids.org/States/states.htm
